That will be very helpfull.  Thanks.

One problem is that you are calling e2fsck if I read your script correctly.

I don't think that works with xfs.  xfs_check would be a better choice I think.  I don't know if there are any other maintenance programs one should invoke on a scheduled basis.

And a real nit-picky thing is that you are not triming the xfs backup inventory.  It probably won't be a problem for a while.

xfsinvutil does this.  I't looks easy to delete anything over a year old if you want to do something like that.

It's probably going overboard, but I think I will actually write an expect script that invokes xfsinvutil and actually maintains a preset retention schedule.

i.e.
 Quarterly Full - Maintain for 5 years
 Monthly Full - Maintain for 12 months
 Weekly Full - Maintain for 6 months
 Daily Differential - Maintain for 3 months.

I tend to do something like the above for my production backup tapes, and it only makes sense for the inventory to match the real tapes.
