Re: RedHat 7.3 released: installer for XFS 1.1 available?

Some comments were made regarding integrating XFS 1.1 into
7.3/Skipjack/Valhalla

The basic steps appear to be:

1) Update the kernel on the boot image to be an XFS kernel
2) Update the packages on the discs to be XFS kernels and add xfsprogs and acls
3) Update the package lists for the installer

The kernel appears to be the hardest one if you want the kernel to have the
same features as the Redhat kernel.

I'm hoping that the whole process is simple enough that major modification
will not be required. The version of anaconda that ships with 7.3 does
know about XFS filesystems (according to messages I read on this list).
It's just that the installer doesn't use an XFS capable kernel (as far as I
know).

The skipjack beta contained a Reiser-fs option that was unofficial
something like running "linux reiserfs" at the boot prompt. So maybe just
adding something like that will be the way to go. Redhat 7.3 now also
supports an alternatives system too.

Once ISO images including the updated kernel and packages are made, it's
likely that XDelta will be used to distribute a patch for the official ISOs.

XDelta is a binary/arbitrary patch/diff utility that ships with Redhat 7.3
