Irix and Linux 2.4.18-XFS1.1 strangeness

Folks,

On my Linux client, I see and Irix Server, running 6.5.15m.

in Home Dir, I see this happening:

zippy1 2% touch abcabc
zippy1 3% ls -la abc*
ls: No match.
zippy1 4% ls -al abcabc
-rw-r--r--    1 westerj  users           0 May  4  2002 abcabc
zippy1 5%ls -la | grep abc
-rw-r--r--    1 westerj  users           0 May  4 16:36 abcabc
zippy1 6%

Zippy runs 2.4.18 with XFS-1.1 patch and is mounted :
