Just my £0.02...
I've had xfs_fsr in cron for a fair while (daily), and it seems to be
working:

fs_db: frag -f
actual 12358, ideal 12038, fragmentation factor 2.59%

[root@xiao] ~ # find /usr/local/media -type f|wc -l
  12133

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/data_vg/data_lv 41G 34G 7.5G 82% /usr/local/media

So I'm happy. I'd be happier if somehow I could get xfs_fsr to startup
20mins after I fall asleep, since my sleeping patterns are anything but
and occasionally I find me and xfs_fsr competing for disk bandwidth, but
having it run at 6am helps reduce the problem and it's less work than
making something to detect whether or not I'm sleeping!
