Unable to mount XFS (3Ware).

Howdy, all. I created a 1 TB 3Ware RAID today, and everything works
like a charm... until I try to mount it:

[root@nebula mnt]# mount -t xfs /dev/sda1 /mnt/raid
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1,
or too many mounted file systems

In order to isolate the issue, I then did a mkfs.reiser on it, and it
mounted just peachily as a ReiserFS volume. XFS is loaded (I've tried
both as a module, and monolithically), and that's pretty much all I
get. It makes the volume fine with "mkfs.xfs /dev/sda1".

Other factoids:

- The XFS is from CVS, downloaded earlier today
- Ironically, it -had- worked, until I had to re-compile the kernel
to add ext-3 support for the boot drive, and tweak one or two other
  things

Should I start from scratch, or am I missing something dumb 'cause I'm
up late?

Thanks much for any help,

-Ken
