Hello,
I was just syncing some files yesterday from my laptop the the server
(Stock RH-7.1-XFS-1.0.1 with kernel 2.4.3-SGI_XFS_1.0.1) like everyday.
But the server crashed and dropped into kdb. I was using rsync -av
--delete ... and already had problems when syncing the laptop from the
server at work. rsync just hung on the laptop and I was using cp to
sync. But on the server at home rsync crashed it. On the rsync ml there
was a message saying that removing the verbose options is the solution
but nobody experienced an oops from rsync, just hanging.
I'm now at work and tried to sync from a server to the laptop and
removing -v does help. Will try it with the XFS server at home tonight.
BTW: I'm doing the same syncing procedure almost everyday without any
problem until now. I know its one new directory thats causing the
hang/crash.
