You mean /boot on a different partition than /? I do it on every system
to avoid all those problems with BIOS's limitations (1024cyl) and if
necessary put a different filesystem on /boot. I also disable all kind
of LBA mappings, be it on SCSI or IDE. This way it's possible to move
disks from one box to the other, from one scsi controller to the other,
without any problem.
