As soon as one of the partitions does NOT contain a valid fs it hangs
during testing for a partition that contains the /etc/fstab file.
It doesn't matter what fs was on it or what state it was in. It seems to be
the partition detection code. If the fs was not formatted it would also hang.
I guess a damaged fs also works.
