Mode of symbolic link



Hi,
if I create a symbolic link on an XFS filesystem, it gets its
mode from umask, instead of 777.  I think this is wrong (on
all other filesystems I tested its always 777).
The problem is specially annoying as you can't change the
mode of the link later, always the mode of the target gets changed :-(

[dv@dwarf q]$ ln -s a b
[dv@dwarf q]$ ls -l
total 4
-rw-r--r--    1 dv       users           1 Aug 11 01:18 a
lrwxr-xr-x    1 dv       users           1 Aug 11 01:18 b -> a
[dv@dwarf q]$ chmod 777 b
[dv@dwarf q]$ ls -l
total 4
-rwxrwxrwx    1 dv       users           1 Aug 11 01:18 a
lrwxr-xr-x    1 dv       users           1 Aug 11 01:18 b -> a
