pfFolks,

this doesn;t have much (any) pfContent; but as this is where all the
smart folks are i gotta ask in this forum...

i need to show some movies (in whatever format is "best") on a very
large screen being driven by and onyx2..
the screen is 3200x1024 pixels and is being driven by a
SINGLE ire2 pipe with 4 rm9's and a dg8 (?, that 8 channel output interface)
i am only using 3 channels of this interface...

what i am required to show is movie made by squashing a bunch of
these big (3200x1024) images captured from a vis tool we use...
right know with a mpeg1 file i get about 1 frame every few seconds...
(using movieplayer)

i read somewhere what the fill rates are on the various rm's but can
someone out there tell me what might be the best performance
(framerate) i could possibly get? a back of the envelope calculation
tells me i need to paint pixels at about 100 Mpixels/sec!!!

are there any hardware video decompression solutions? i see these for
octanes, etc but nothing on the ire2's..

so i guess what i am looking for is:
i) is it even possible to do frames rates, say, of > 15?
ii) what's the best movie format for this?
iii) any other comments that might help :)

thanks. tcb.

-mike
