Assumimg the Teapot has been modeled with its origin
at 0,0,0 then you have positioned your view point in front
of the model it will be behind you ...

try setting your position to 0.0f, -5.0f, 0.0f;

Also remember in Performer that

+X is to your screen right
+Y is direclty into the screen
+Z is screen up
