I am trying to convert a file to PFB format using pfdBuilder.
The file has about 20000 polygons and a few texture maps with
detailed texture.

The odd thing during the conversion is that the Xsgi process start
growing. The conversion process itself does not take much
memory, however the Xsgi uses more than 850M "resident"
memory.

Can someone tell me what causes the X server to grow?

Is the Performer rendering the scene to the X server even
there is no window?

Is there any way to work around this?

BTW, I am running it on a Onyx2/IRIX 6.5.5.

Thanks!
