(choose spit from drop down menu)

Would you like to encorporate real-time data aquisition into your
performer application? Need to get data from an experiment to
visualize in realtime? Want to add in another tracker, or some gloves but
don't have enough serial ports availible in your ONYX2?

We have the answer! spit! It's a simple CORBA based framework (read
nacient API) that let's you use the serial ports on a PC running linux.
Almost all data aquisition, tracking and haptic tech is serial port
based... so why not make things easier? Spit is designed to be tranparent
to the application programmer and is written for C/C++. We have sample
code availible, and have been using spit in production for almost 5
months!

Created at the University of Michigan Media Union, spit is free
to download and use (see COPYING file in distribution). Multiple projects
at the U-M Media Union use spit, to find out more about applications that
use spit, go to the website at the top of this message.
