As Angus and Marcin already said: it's a bug in the OpenGL texture
manager for Octane; we're aware of it and have been monitoring the
progress w.r.t getting it fixed.

The workaround Angus suggests might help to mitigate this problem
because those functions have an effect upon the in-memory layout of
textures in the TRAMs.

And as Marcin said, the fix for this problem (bug #758216) didn't
make it into 6.5.6 because the fix itself introduced more serious
problems. It's being reworked now for 6.5.7.
