2D Graphics in Performer

Greetings,

I am building a flight simulator and need the ability to draw flight
instruments in the cockpit that update dynamically using Performer.
So far all my drawing is done from the scene graph so I would like a
pfNode derived object that does 2D drawing that I can add into my
scene graph.

I have been reading through the manuals and am confused. I have found
2 means to draw the instruments. Apparently Performer has the ability
to draw opengl display lists through some complicated interface. This
doesn't seem like the way to go. The other way is a pfGeoSet which
seems the way to go to me.

Can someone confirm that I am not barking up the wrong tree? Thanks.

p.s. does anyone know of any pre-made performer flight instruments for
flight simulator apps?
