Help on pfExit

Can anybody help me on this one.

pfexit causes causes other (non-performer) processes to die. Is this a
known problem ? and what would be my options to work-around it.

My configuration:
Octane, IRIX 6.5.3m, performer 2.2.4
Graphics: MXI
