Glasgow School of Art's Digital Design Studio, is situated within the
Postgraduate Centre at the House for an Art Lover, in Bellahouston Park,
Glasgow.
The Digital Design Studio reflects the most advanced hardware and
software systems currently available and is dedicated to advanced
digital technology through Education, Training and Research programmes.
The studio creatively explores and develops a deep understanding of
existing, emerging and future technologies.
New and intuitive digital tools are being developed in conjunction with
major international partners. These partners support the Digital Design
Studio's vision to inspire fundamental change in the way people create,
organise and communicate ideas.
The studio is equiped with over forty Silicon Graphics workstations
ranging from O2 and Octane to Onyx2 Infinite Reality. Research aparatus
at your disposal will include an Immersive Workbench, tracking units,
and various haptic feedback devices.
You must have a strong backgroung in programming using C/C++, excellent
problem solving skills, good communication and presentation skills and
an ability to work well alone and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You will be required to make a positive and necessary contribution at
all levels in order to drive this research programme forward. You will
want to be part of an exciting new development which will change the way
people work with technology forever.
Ideally you will have considerable graphics programming experience
preferably using Iris Performer and/or Paradigm's Vega under IRIX.
Good knowledge/experience of Haptic feedback, Gesture based control and
3D sound are highly desirable.
