The rss parameters modify the Resident Set Size. This resource should be
modified if you feel that your application should fit into memory, but when
you run much time is spent swapping. It is possible that the amount of memory
your application is alloted is less than total memory.

Another related resource is rsshogfrac (under paging), which controls the
percentage of memory filled before swapping starts occuring. I believe the
default is 75 %. If you are confident that the application will fit you can
raise this also.
