If you are trying to change state in mp mode such as
Transparency on objects etc then you need to install
predraw and post draw call backs on the nodes.
In the predraw save the current state and set you new state
for the nodes, and on the postdraw reset the states to the
saved ones.
There are many examples in the /usr/share/Performer dirs
that show you how to doe this.
The reason it works in single mode is that the App, Cull and Draw
are in the same process space.
