Geometry Color Without Lighting

Hello Everyone,

I am using the Wavefront (OBJ) file loader to view some models in a
Performer program that I am writing.

I have noticed that when I turn off the lighting that my model turns a
certain shade of gray. You can see the same thing when you run Perfly (use a
model like shinycow.obj that is included as an example OBJ file in the
"data" directory and turn off the lighting and reflection map).

I would actually like to control the color of the model when the lighting is
turned off. Does anyone know how to do this?
