Sorry for the late answer. Still I hope this will help.
I use the irit modeler (can be found at
http://www.cs.technion.ac.il/~irit/). The objects are loaded into the
Performer with a loader we wrote. The animation is declared in Irit and
than loaded in the userdata of the Performer node.
