No, not Jan 2000!
Performer 2.3 is going to be released once our next generation
hardware is released. That release date is not public knowledge.

This new hardware is going to support high quality lighting,
advanced texturing, better frame rate management, better cliptexture,
faster multi-pass, etc.
It is going to come out sometime in year 2000.

To be more specific, the Performer team is making the extension.
VSE is just a name holder for now. We have got many good
name suggestions from all of you. (Thanks! :) But we have to wait till
FSG chooses its name first.

VSE 1.0 is going to support multiprocessing, multichannel
and multipipe, stress management, and real-time controls.
All of these features will have the Performer2.2
level capability and more. However, it is not going to contain

and Performer to VSE porting support.
