We are trying to integrate movie playback into a Performer application
running on an Onyx2. We don't care whether the movies are rendered
directly to a window or used as textures, and we don't care whether the
movies are rendered directly by our app or by another process. All we
care about is getting the highest image resolution possible in real
time, for movies that may be relatively long (one minute).
Initial tests running mediaplayer with a 640x480 movie have been
disappointing: playback is not fluid, presumably because the application
is swapping. We have tried both with and without compression (Cinepak),
and we tried both 25 FPS and 12 FPS movies, but the result is similar.
Does anyone out there know of a way to get better results?
Thanks,
Geoff
