How to realize missile trail?

Hi! Everyone:
   I am using Performer2.2 pfuSmoke API pfuSmokeType(smoke,PFUSMOKE_MISSILE)
to realize missile trail,but the resault is disappointmenting! It doesn't
like some missile trail,just like some small fire.
   How should I do? Should I use some other Texture?
