To add to what Angus said, there are also a few samples shipped with
Performer 2.2 in /usr/share/Performer/src/pguide/libpf/C, from the
subsystem performer_dev.src.sample:

   multichan.c - one pipe, multiple channels
   multiwin.c - one pipe, multiple windows (one channel each)
   multipipe.c - multiple pipes (one channel each)

One or some combination of these should be just what you're looking
for. You'll find similar code in perfly also.
