run-away on exit

We occasionally get a run-away process on exit that can
only be stopped by rebooting the machine. I don't think
anyone has seen it on anything but O2. I suspect we are
corrupting memory somewhere but thought I would post a
stack trace in case someone had seen something like this
before. This is O2 with IRIX 6.5.3 and Performer 2.2.3.
