Performer 2.2

I had a Performer 2.2 on an Onix machine, It can't load 3DS format file, I transform the 3DS to FLT format, it still have problem load it, but I can load the transformed FLT file in MultiGen. I wonder if my file transform program have some error, Can anybody introduce some good and free transformation software?
