That would allow us to reduce visible detail, but our real concerns are
the amount of memory consumed by the ASD, and the time it takes to
create the tiles (which can be extremely long with ASDGen).

In order to save time and above all memory, we would like to be able to
specify an area where detail is to be concentrated. Outside this area,
the level of detail would be determined by how much time and/or memory
are available....
