Mr/Dr. Ramsey is correct that it was most definitely an ad,
though I don't think it was disguised in any way, nor did it have
anything to do with "tomfoolery." I _only_ send in "fake" posts
on April Fools (check the pfArchives for years past :)
Perhaps I should have put the subject in all CAPS like the
occasional "JOB OFFERED" or "NEW PRODUCT" posts that I've seen go
by, but I don't like to shout. In any event, I _had_ asked one of
SGI's tenders of the list and understood it to be "a great place"
to post. This is, after all, a list largely served and serving a
community of professional developers, many of whom I've worked with
and many of whom can best be reached through limited (e.g., one
commercial per year) advertising.
So I apologize if there was any confusion as to the nature of
my post. It was indeed an advertisement. However, if in the future
people have objections to a post, I would encourage them send a
polite email directly to the sender as a matter of professional
courtesy.
