Maybe this is more of an OpenGL question but since I am using Performer I
will ask it here. On a system with a fixed amount of texture memory (iR,
Octane, Imapact) I can pre-download all of my textures. If they all happen
to fit I can safely delete the external versions of those images since no
paging will occur requiring the system to re-download. However, on a system
like an O2 that uses it's main memory for the formatted textures how can I
determine how much texture I can define before having to worry about
reformatting and "downloading"? Can anyone tell me how an O2 determines how
much memory it will use for texture before not accepting any more? Is this
a non issue assuming enough memory? What if there is little memory and lots
of texture (and other stuff). Will an O2 allow textures to be paged?
Insights appreciated,
