This is definitely not a Performer-specific question, but I might hope some
around here have the answer.
I'm using Virtual Research Inc.'s VR4 HMD for an output of my pfProgram. This
HMD only accepts 640x480 *interlaced* format. The only compliant MCO mode I
found on our Onyx RE2 is 2++at++640x486_30i. However we'd like to be able to fork one
of the left-and-right channels onto a desktop screen or a TV.
I have tried everything :
- forking one of the the 3-cable RGB output from the MCO board
- using the SVGA output socket of the VR4's box
on many types of screen, among which :
- SGI screen (Onyx or Indys)
- some PC screens
- a TV through a seem-to-be VGA->PAL converter or RGB->PAL converter (actually
an esoteric box with Harmonic Research Inc. logo on it)
Nothing worked, I cannot get any readable signal...
I'm presuming this may come from the interlaced nature of the video signal,
which does not seem to be compliant to any of the video displays I've tried,
except the HMD.
Does any of you have an advice to give me about which screen, converter, or even
MCO mode I could try to be able to visualize the HMD images on a desktop ?
I hope I was not to ununderstandable in my question :)
Tnx,
Mike
