pfLightSource problems

I've been trying to simulate a local light source using pfLightSource.
Everything's fine in front of the light but I'm also getting
illumination behind the light source.

I've reproduced the problem with a modified version of

/usr/share/Performer/src/pguide/libpf/C/shadows.c

(by adding a wall behind the loaded model and a roof above it and moving
the eye-point back - no other changes)

Is this a problem with Performer or am I doing something wrong?

I'm using an Onyx 2 with Performer 2.2 and IRIX 6.4
