There's been a couple of real-time/glitch problems posted recently so
I'm going to post a general response seperately. On this one spcifically
though, what machine is this exactly. An Onyx2 wouldn't have RE gfx, do
you mean Onyx RE2 or Onyx/Onyx2 iR ? Or, maybe Onyx2 Reality ? ( I know
the naming is a little confusing :-) RE2 = RealityEngine, iR =
InfiniteReality and Reality = Reality, an iR with it's wings clipped a
little....

If you really only have one CPU then you'll always struggle with
realtime glitches as the kernel has to do so much admin/interupt
handling on that CPU. On a multiple CPU system you can direct most stuff
like that to just one CPU and free up the rest but in you case you'll
have clock ticks, interupts, system deamons, vertical retrace syncs and
your app all fighting for time.

You could most likely turn off a few systems things, I'll mention
general stuff for that in the next posting.
