Hi,

I run into some performance problems. Maybe someone can help me out.

I am running an application on an ONYX2 (IRIX 6.4/ single CPU) with
one RE board installed. The application has a NFS connection to a
external PC and a UDP socket connection to an other PC which runs
the simualtion core.

The customer wants a steady 30Hz frame rate.

Sometimes I got a drop in framerate. I suspect the OS is doing some work
here?

Can someone provide me with a list of demons or background processes
which are necessary for a barebone system.

Or otherwise, which processes can be killed without hurting IRIX.
For example, do I need fam (file system monitor)? Can I kill it?

What is a high performance setting for chkconfig? What can be switched
off?

Sincerely
Izumi Fukuoka
