If you have transparency sorting enabled for the channel than the
drawing of the transparent objects is Back to Front based on the distance
of the centre of the bounding sphere of the pfGeode of bounding box of
the pfGeoset.
If the outer box is drawn first you get a Z-buffer update that will
disable the drawing of the inner objects. You might try to use
multisample transparency. This way the subpixels have a Z value of
there own.
You have small pixels that probably means that there is no visual
that has multi-sample.
