For unexperienced C++ developpers, it is might indeed be dangerous to use C++.
But when you use it wright, it is, to my knowledge, as fast as C can be.
Specially in Performer type applications were the real bottleneck is usually
the graphics hardware, I don't see any reason for not using C++ and taking
advantage of the language multiple strenghts and capabilities.
