Running stuff on CPU zero has always proved to be a bad idea for us.

IIRC, things like the video vertical retrace interrupt happen on zero -
and I guess that if you were delaying that from happening then there
would be an effect on APP somewhere in the pfSync/pfFrame area.

We *always* spec our machines with none of our own processes running
on CPU 0 - it seems to be the only way to guarantee realtime performance.

If you really *must* use CPU zero then be very careful to turn off
all unwanted UNIX operations. Use chkconfig - turn off stuff like
mediad that wakes up on some reagular interval and checks the CD-ROM
drive status.
