Persistent as I am :-) I continue to explore the wonders of Active Surface
Definition, ASD. Now I have troubles with the ASD paging. When I create
fairly large areas with fairly high lod levels, some of the tiles are not
loaded when I show the terrain in the asdfly program. One would think that
these tiles were to be loaded after a while, but they aren't. I know they
are on the disk, because different tiles are omitted every time. Does anyone
have ideas of what might be the reasons?
Furthermore, I wonder if the Compute process that obviously takes care of both
the morphing and the paging (true?) is separated from the App, Cull and Draw-
processes? If so, it wouldn't slow down the frame rate, right? Well, it does.
I have problems trying to get the frame rate to 60 Hz.
I have discovered that the paging takes a constant 1,6-1,7ms per area that is
loaded. Therefore, I tried to load a huge paged area instead of many small
ones.
But I have memory problems when creating this huge area. I don't know if the
program leaks memory but the shared arena of 500 Mb is exceeded.
I hope somebody will be kind enough to answer, comment or just share some
ideas regarding these problems.
Thanks in advance,
Andreas Ekstrand
