The MPU is just a simple framework to get a multipipe application
running,
it's a far cry from Performer even without the Scene Graph, but if you
have an OpenGL application already and you don't want to use a scene
graph
or port to performer or really want to implement your own OpenGL stuff
for
a Multi-Pipe system then MPU is the right place to start.

Note that you can still write very bad OpenGL code with MPU, it doesn't
help you with state management or other good rendering practices the way
Performer does.
