Not really. MPU is a utility to allow a code writer to take their current
program, and given their own isolated draw utility (or for that matter, any
routine that requires replication) allows that utility to be easily used for
multi-pipe by hiding the date replication required to make this possible.

Its a hack, but a very, very useful hack, for getting people to multi-pipe
quickly.

Whereas Performer is a performance graphics API, which allows a user to
describe their data, and control how they want it drawn, but where the API does
the real work of the drawing, and does so in an optimal (ie damn fast) manner.
MPU doesn't do any drawing, it just helps the user to go multi-pipe.

What they do have in common is that like Optimizer, and Fahrenheit, it takes
some of the work out of writing multi-pipe code .... although things like
Performer, Optimizer and Fahrenheit have much more knowledge of the data and
framework and as such make the multi-pipe thing much easier.
