I've looked at the font loader that comes with Performer 2.2
and played a bit with creating mesh fonts myself. There are
two routines in the libpfdu package that are used as part
of pfdLoadFont; objfnt.c and type1rd.c. As far as I can tell,
it is only possible to create outline fonts using these two
routines without a lot of additional work. Thanks for the
pointer to the Developers Toolbox, Angus. I'm interested to
see what else is available.

I do have one Performer "wish list" item with regards to pfFonts.
Currently each character is stored as a pfGeoSet. It would be
nice to have characters be pfGeodes instead so that the faces and
sides could have different characteristics.
