I'm somewhat new to Performer and would like to know if there are any
tutorial-type code examples on the internet covering the combination of
the ViewKit application framework and Performer.
Right now I'm working on a program that implements the GUI with
ViewKit(Motif) and relegates the graphics to an XmDrawingArea updated by
Performer routines in a background timeslice type of callback. Hard
realtime performance isn't required, just interactive responsiveness.
Since ViewKit wants to control the main application loop, Motif is set
up first, with Performer initialization setup as part of the toplevel
shell (main window) creation. This seems backwards from all examples I
have found in the Performer documentation, but the program works.
I'm looking to clean up the code, which seems overly convoluted, and
learn more about combining these two libraries. If you can comment on
this approach or give URLs to any online examples to compare to my
current code, that would be a great help.
(If it matters, I'm using an SGI O2 R10K, IRIX 6.3, BX Pro 5.0.1,
ViewKit 1.3?, Performer 2.2.)
