If you have a Deskside model, or if you have a rack with only one pipe,
you can't have two sets of keyboards and mice simultaneously. Each
user must have one pipe.

I assume you mean you used Video Format Combiner (/usr/gfx/ircombine?)
Depending on how many Raster Managers you have (gfxinfo will tell you)
you can configure your screen to handle up to 2048x1120 (assuming your
display device can handle it). Use the "Edit globals" button on the
bottom-right corner of the panel, fill in the desired screen rez, and
download combination.
The tradeoff for a bigger screen is less pixel depth.
Note: to configure a screen size larger than what it is currently,
you will have to File->save to EEPROM and restart graphics. If the
new size is smaller than what it currently is set to, clicking on
Download Combination would give you an instant resolution change.
I have tried up to 1600x1200 on the 24" SGI monitor, I am not sure
about how much higher it will scan to- never had the need to try.
