Subject: Re: The future of Performer

Hi All,

Let me take this opportunity to clarify the items of discussion on this
thread.

First, I'd like to wish a fond pfWell to Performers
Michael Jones and Remi Arnaud who recently left SGI to pursue
new endeavors. We wish them the best and look forward
to their future work.

There seems to be some worry on this news group about the future of IRIS
Performer.
Be assured that IRIS Performer and the SGI commitment to
both IRIS Performer and Visual Simulation live on and are healthy.

There is another issue over which there is some confusion.
Performer 2.X will not be available on NT. For a discussion of reasons
why and related Fahrenheit issues, I'd like to point you at the detailed
reponse
written by Chris Insinger (Performer and Fahrenheit Scene Graph Product
Manager)
and me the last time this topic was on this mailing list:

As for the roadmap of the future Performer, that is under
development by the new Director of Advanced Graphcs Software,
Brian Cabral. As some of you might know, Brian was previously
head of OpenGL Optimizer.

Thanx, as always, for your input and questions.
