inst is normally pretty good but you still occasionally get screwed up
installs, sometimes it's easier to just start again from scratch than debug
what's going on :-(

That said, you could rule out a couple of possibilities, first try forcing a
rebuild of the kernel with autoconfig -fv then a reboot. Then see if it's just
Performer that has a problem or maybe any gfx apps, try some OpenGL only
demos/samples, it could just be that you have a gfx HW problem but not likely
unless you have errors in SYSLOG, the acid test would be to swap the disk with
another Impact that you know is OK and see how pf apps run on that, test if the
problem follows the SW or HW. I guess you could try a make clobber/clean the
recompile of the performer apps too.

If you can't face completely reinstalling then try at least redoing performer
then the patches. If you get really stuck then log a support call with the Uk
office ( who'll probably tell you to reinstall :-) ).
