Performers,

As you know, the performer_eoe.compat{*} subsystems allow users to
run programs compiled under Performer 2.0.x & 2.1.x on a system which
has Performer 2.2 or 2.2.1 installed.

Some problems have been discovered in the libraries which make up
those subsystems, as mentioned in a recent info-performer thread.

Patch 3138, "Performer 2.2/2.2.1 backwards-compatability fix", has
been released to address these problems. Those of you with
maintenance contracts(**) can get the patch from your support
provider, or download the patch via SupportFolio online:

   http://support.sgi.com/surfzone/patches/ or the direct URL,
   http://support.sgi.com:80/surfzone/patches/support/pinfo/pinfo3138.html

Some notes:

Patch 3138 should be loaded on any system which has the
performer_eoe.compat{*} subsystems installed from Performer 2.2
(version 1274244010) or Performer 2.2.1 (version 1274244710).

We've tested it with IRIS Performer 2.2 on systems running IRIX 6.2,
IRIX 6.3, and IRIX 6.4; and with IRIS Performer 2.2.1 on IRIX 6.5.

It fixes the following bugs:

o SCR 605958 - pfdFindConverterDSO() unable to dynamically load
file-loader DSO's when using the compat libs

o SCR 600942 - visfly demo not starting; unresolvable symbol
    pfuCalcNormalizedChanXY

o SCR 598903 - 2.2 compat libraries have bad lighting

Allan

(**) I've also nominated 3138 for an upcoming recommended-patch-set,
so sometime soon it should be freely available for all users.
