Is there any way under the current architecture for me to compile a static
version of my application so that I can give someone a Performer
executable and say "here run this" rather than "here run this on a IRIX
6.4 machine running the Performer 2.x execution environment"?

I realize that this would eliminate many of the nice things gained by the
DSO system, but it sure would be nice for demonstration purposes.
