The Corporate Research Centre in ABB Norway is looking to hire one or
more people in order to build up competence in real-time systems and
virtual reality. The new people are needed to contribute to a number of
projects in the power distribution, offshore engineering and railway
train (ADtranz) divisions.
Skills required are virtual reality systems development, software for
real-time systems, 3D graphics and human-computer interfaces. Previous
relevant experience is a must as is education to MSc or equivalent. We
use Performer, OpenGL, and RapidApp for development work on SGIs and are
beginning to look into developing in a cross-platform environment. So
exposure to NT development systems would be an advantage.
Salary is competitive for Norway and re-location expenses are normally
offered. English is the standard business language in ABB but being able
to speak Norwegian (or being willing to try !) would be useful. If you

ABB Corporate Research is the internal R&D division for the ABB group of
companies worldwide (Asea Brown Boveri). Last year, the ABB group had a
turn-over in excess of USD 35 B. The offices in Norway are located to
the west of Oslo and are very close to the airport at Fornebu.
