CENTER FOR MULTIMEDIA
POST DOC position in distributed and collaborative virtual
environments
Applications are invited for a two year post doc position in the
project entitled Distributed multimedia technologies and applications
(DMM) managed at Aarhus University. The position is in the area of
collaborative and distributed virtual environments. The position is
open for the period from September 1, 1998 to August 31, 2000.
The Center for Multimedia was recently established by the Danish
National Research Councils and has as its objective to strengthen
interdisciplinary Danish multimedia research. The center runs for a
period of 4 years from January 1, 1998 to December 31, 2001.
The applicant must contribute to research in the DMM project which
covers research in distributed multimedia technologies and
applications in the following domains: collaboration support for
distributed organizations, distributed education, and electronic
commerce. The main activity for the post doc will be to work with
support for distributed collaboration on objects and information
represented in 3D spaces. Examples of possible applications are
industrial design support, virtual children playgrounds, and medicine.
Applicants should have a strong research record in areas such as
distributed virtual environments, collaborative VR, augmented reality,
3Dvisualization, internet based VR.The successful candidate should be
able to carry out original research incooperation with fellow
researchers in the project and to a limited extent to contribute to
teaching at Aarhus University.
A PhD degree (or the equivalent) obtained within the past five years
is a recommended pre-requisite.
Applications (3 copies) should include a curriculum vitae giving
evidence on which the evaluation of the applicant's scientific
qualifications can be based, a complete list of publications,
together with three copies of publications (max. 8) which the
applicant selects as the most relevant for the application. and the
names of three scientists who could comment on the applicant's
capabilities. Other supportive material should also be submitted in
three copies. The applicant must, upon request, submit further
material required by the selection committee in its evaluation.

of research interests should be addressed to Faculty of Science,

Denmark, and marked 212/5-131.
The deadline for the receipt of all application material is June 30,
1998.
