This sounds like a HW problem, try the following:

        1) re-seat both the cards themselves and if you have the TRAM option
re-seat them too. Ohh, by the way, a while ago we needed a TRAM option for our
MAX IMPACT and borrowed one from someone who had a HIGH IMPACT. We had problems
similar to the ones described by you. The problem is that for MAX IMPACT you
need 2 4MB TRAM cards, one for each raster manager (third and second, or top
and last before top cards, this doesn't give you 8 MB, but faster and, I guess,
deeper 4 MB of texture memory). By very careful while manipulating the boards
and SPECIALLY the TRAM cards, very sensitive to static.
        2) If you have the TRAM option, make sure both TRAM cards are OK, you
can do that by testing each one in a HIGH IMPACT Indigo, or try taking off the
third (top) board of the MAX IMPACT, to make it a HIGH IMPACT, and then trying
each TRAM card. If the problems persist, then you probably have a bad card.
(Again make sure it is well seated, all contacts should be deep and evenly into
the socket, the TRAM cards tend to come out at either one of the ends).
        3) To make sure it is not software, and if you have the TRAM option,
just try the borads without the TRAM cards.

        Hope this helps,
